Craftmatic Pays Fine for Violating Do Not Call List
Nobody likes to get a telemarketing call and it always seems that they call as soon as you sit down to eat. This is one of the reasons that more than 150 million Americans have signed the do not call list, which represents over half of the population of the United States.
The do not call list is a program that is set up by the federal government to keep telemarketers from calling. It is run by the Federal Trade Commission and since this programs introduction five years ago, thirty-five companies have been taken to court and more than $15 million in fines has been issued.
Craftmatic has received many complaints about their products and service. This includes countless customer complaints about salesmen lying to get sales and not honoring warranties on their products. Many people have also complained about the quality of their products, faulty equipment, outright lies about their products, and extremely aggressive high pitch sales practices.
This is not limited to only the United States, but customers in Europe have also had similar bad experiences when using Craftmatic.
There have also been investigations for Craftmatic Fraud, in which they ended up settling for over half a million dollars. This was after a high number of complaints against the sales tactics used by Craftmatic, including visiting elderly peoples homes, gaining access to their homes, and then proceeding to stay for hours as they used incredibly manipulative high pressure sales tactics. Rather than face the courts judgment in this case, they chose to settled with the more than 450 people that filed suit against them.
The practices of their salesmen are also a consistent factor listed by most customers. Overly zealous telemarketers and outright violations of the do not call list has finally caught up with Craftmatic though. They have been fined almost $4.5 million dollars for their repeated violations of the do not call list. To date they are the second largest violator of the do not call list.
One of the ways Craftmatic violated consumer rights is by using a sweepstakes to get customers phone numbers. They offered the chance of winning a new Craftmatic bed to consumers. The customers were told that their phone number was going to be used to track the sweepstakes. Craftmatic then proceeded to repeatedly call and perform high pressure sales pitches on the people that entered the sweepstakes. The customers did not consent to being called. Craftmatic also failed to honor a do not call list that was developed solely to protect customers from Craftmatic's business practices.

Coping with Insomnia
1) Place your alarm clock out of sight. It's distressing to wake up to a clock that tells you how much time you have left to sleep. That's enough stress to keep you awake which will more than likely lessen your chances of falling back to sleep.
2) Keep the room at a moderate temperature and avoid as much light as possible. It's always best for you to relax as much as possible. It's common sense to keep a dark setting and a comfortable room temperature.
3) Avoid caffeine, naps during the day, and nicotine. All of these will definitely prevent you from sleeping well. If you do have caffeine and nicotine, remember to avoid having them in the late afternoon.
4) Use your bed only for sleep. It's not a good idea to do work in your bed. It's always best to be as restful as you can. Keep the stress away from the bedroom.
5) Never exercise around bedtime. Don't get me wrong, exercise is a great way to induce sleeping but that should be done earlier in the day. Having your adrenaline pumping for hitting the sheets is not a good way to go sleep. Your body needs time to relax and calm down.

Another Hotel with Adjustable Beds
A few weeks ago, we discussed the Westminster Hotel in
In addition to the standard features that have become common to hotel stay, such as free wireless internet, in-room refrigerators, and HD TV's, this hotel has decided to take the next step and improve the comfort and health of their guests.
They have placed adjustable beds in all of their king rooms and have upwards of forty rooms that feature these beds. Aside from the medical benefits of an adjustable bed, one of the great things about an adjustable bed is how comfortable they are for watching TV or reading. This makes them a great choice for a hotel, because many guests like to relax on the bed after a long day.
A king sized adjustable bed is actually two individual twin beds that are secured next to each other. This allows the two sides of the bed to be operated independently, so one person can be watching TV and the other in a lower sleeping position.

Looking for a Good Nights Rest?
An adjustable bed allows the foot and head portion to be raised. They are adjusted by an attached control and an electric motor is used to move the bed in most of the models that are available today. There are some beds that also can be raised and lowered.
These beds are called Hi-Low beds and make it easier and safer to transfer into or out of the bed. They are often used by caretakers who might otherwise be unable to safely move their ward. Some beds offer Hi-Low functionality and combine it with adjustable bed functionality, which allows for a safe and comfortable sleeping experience.
Using an adjustable bed is usually done by an attached remote control, which prevents it from being lost or ever out of reach. Some beds also offer wireless remotes, which are great if the bed is being used by a caretaker.

Tips for Getting a Good Night's Sleep
A great idea is to improve your daily habits. Our ability to rest properly reflects on our activities we do during the day. It's best to get a decent amount of exercise for yourself. Keep that blood flowing! Also, smoking and/or drinking alcohol or caffeine can ruin your sleeping habits. If you do any of these, please keep it at a minimum.
Another idea is to keep a regular schedule of sleeping. Napping during the day can interrupt your usual night time sleeping. Be aware of what you eat as well. Always have full, hearty meals during the day and a light snack before bed can work wonders for you.

Adjustable Beds in Hotels

Adjustable beds are a special type of bed that allows the foot and head section to be raised. They offer many medical benefits and also are incredibly comfortable.
Adjustable beds have been used in hospitals and by doctors for hundreds of years, but did not become popular in the home until the 1960's. Today people all over the world enjoy a good nights rest at the hands of an adjustable bed.
While adjustable beds are very popular, they are generally only found in hospital environments and residential settings, but a hotel in New Jersey has become the first hotel in the country to outfit the entire hotel with adjustable beds.
The Westminster Hotel, an independent luxury hotel in Livingston, N.J., offers adjustable beds in all of their guest rooms and has an upgraded sleep system in their suites. The upgraded sleep system, which is available in 10 suites, includes a built in massager with 12 pre-programmed settings.
An adjustable bed in a hotel is revolutionary, but the jump makes sense. Aside from the many medical benefits, adjustable beds also make watching television and reading much more comfortable, which is something that almost everyone that stays at a hotel will do. One of the reasons that most hotels provide extra pillows in their rooms, is so that their guests can prop their heads up. Even with the numerous number of pillows in each room, the pillow is still one of the most requested item from the front desk and an adjustable bed virtually eliminates the need for extra pillows.
Hopefully this creates a trend and we will begin seeing other hotels offering adjustable beds.

Getting a Good Nights Rest
Adjustable beds are, quite obviously, a type of bed, but unlike a traditional bed, they allow the head and foot portions to be raised. If you are someone who frequently uses several pillows under your head or foot, then you most definitely would be better suited to use an adjustable bed.
These beds can reduce leg, foot, and ankle swelling. They also improve blood flow throughout the body and also help to expand lung capacity. Those that suffer from acid reflux usually find that it is worse at night and an adjustable bed can help. This is because during the day while you are standing or sitting, gravity helps to control the acid reflux, but when you lay down, you loose the advantage of gravity. This leads many people to sleep in recliners or with many pillows under their head to help fight the acid reflux. A much better alternative is to use an adjustable bed, which can greatly reduce the rate at which acid reflux effects you.
Many people benefit from adjustable beds and are able to get a good nights sleep because they have one.
